My Beautiful Tree

I look at you

What do I see

So tall, so strong, so beautiful

You look at me

What do you see

So meek, so mild, so humble

My precious tree

So proud, so wise, so full of life

Throughout the years

After the fiery brushes have torched your sacred limbs

You remain unscarred, unharmed, unmoved

You have endured all the elements of our changing world

You have felt the cruel, uncaring behavior of human nature

Yet you still are the mighty one

You are the brave one

You are the core of everlasting life

As I rest upon your weathered feet

I close my eyes and hear the energy of the winds

Whispering through your leaves

As your branches gently sway

You reveal your power, your strength, your dignity

I can feel your desire to nourish my soul

You cast your shadows against the blazing sun

As you protect me from the perils of nature’s wrath

I am forever vulnerable to you

Oh Precious Tree

I seek to you my soul to free

I shall love you as you love me

I shall nourish you with knowledge of our changing universe

As you shall nourish my Spirit

And glorify me with your everlasting presence

Oh Precious Tree
